Tesla to Wind Down Cybertruck Production Mid-2027
Tesla plans to end Cybertruck output at Giga Texas around mid-2027 to boost Cybercab production.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced the production wind-down on X, citing the need for factory space at Gigafactory Texas. The Cybertruck entered production in late 2023 after multiple delays and has sold far below the 250,000-unit annual capacity the line was built for.
Lead engineer Wes Morrill noted that several Cybertruck technologies, including the 48-volt architecture and steer-by-wire system, transferred directly to the Cybercab. Tesla will continue parts and service support for existing owners.
The move follows similar decisions to end Model S and Model X production earlier this year to prioritize autonomy-related output.
“Cybertruck was an incredible technology development platform and lives on through Cybercab.”
