Latvia Approves Tesla FSD Supervised as Tenth EU Country

Latvia has approved Tesla FSD Supervised, becoming the tenth EU country to do so, with a rollout expected soon.

Tesla Europe announced on October 26 that FSD Supervised is now approved in Latvia. The approval follows recognition of the Dutch RDW provisional type approval granted on April 10. Latvia joins Lithuania, Estonia, Denmark, Belgium, Slovenia, Czechia, Croatia, and Slovakia.

The company stated that rollout begins soon, using the same phrasing as the Slovakia approval on October 16. In Europe the feature is marketed as Tesla Assisted Driving. An EU-wide vote remains scheduled for December.

The system stays SAE Level 2, requiring continuous driver attention.

Why it mattersLatvian Tesla owners with compatible hardware can soon use supervised FSD features on local roads while still monitoring the system.

Turo Adds Verified FSD Rentals for Teslas on October 28

Turo will let US renters book Teslas with verified FSD Supervised starting October 28 through a direct Tesla API connection.

Image: Tesla North

Turo is adding a filter for Tesla vehicles with FSD Supervised enabled on its platform. Hosts link their Tesla account to verify the feature automatically, and thousands of such cars are already listed.

The rollout is limited to the United States. Eligible hosts can receive a free one-month FSD trial subscription.

Renters must review Tesla’s FSD documentation before pickup because the system requires an attentive driver at all times.

Why it mattersFSD drivers can now rent a verified FSD-equipped Tesla on trips to test the system without owning one.

Tesla Draws Rocket-Shaped Robotaxi Geofence in Houston

Tesla expanded its Houston Robotaxi service area into a rocket shape on October 26.

Tesla expanded its Robotaxi geofence in Houston on October 26. The new boundary turns the original northwest zone into a nose cone and adds a long southeast body toward downtown and Bellaire.

The service launched on April 18 with a 25-square-mile area. The updated zone now covers about 254 square miles. Tesla's Robotaxi account posted a map with the message “Houston, we have liftoff.”

Robotaxi Tracker counts 34 unsupervised Model Ys operating in the city. No Cybercabs are yet in public service there.

Why it mattersFSD drivers see that Tesla continues to grow geofences faster than it adds unsupervised vehicles in new cities.

Tesla Says Cybercab Production Outpaces Robotaxi Deployments

Tesla reports its Cybercab production line builds vehicles faster than the company can deploy them.

Image: Drive Tesla Canada

Tesla disclosed during a Munro Live factory tour that its Cybercab manufacturing capabilities exceed current deployment rates. Executives noted the production line does not operate daily because output has surpassed the pace of getting vehicles into service.

The Cybercab uses an unboxed manufacturing system with 78 percent automation overall and full automation on the framing line. Final assembly requires only 25 stations, about one-fifth to one-tenth the number on a conventional Model Y line, and halves factory floor space per vehicle.

Tesla lists annual production capacity above 125,000 units and has registered 463 Cybercabs in Texas.

Why it mattersFaster Cybercab output could accelerate future robotaxi availability for FSD drivers once deployment catches up.

Tesla Shifts Cybercab to Modular Battery Pack Design Supporting LFP

Tesla designed the Cybercab battery pack from the start to use a modular architecture that supports both 4680 cells and lower-density LFP chemistry.

Image: Drive Tesla Canada

Tesla revealed the Cybercab battery pack uses an 88S6P configuration with 4680 cells but includes extra space in the enclosure for LFP cells that have lower energy density. The pack is not fully structural like some Model Y packs; instead it uses individual modules that can be serviced or replaced separately.

Engineers cited manufacturing cost, reliability and the need to keep robotaxis in service for at least 500,000 miles as reasons for the modular approach. The design still contributes to vehicle structure during side impacts and received an internal grade of A minus.

The current Cybercab packs use nickel-cathode 4680 cells produced at the Austin facility.

Why it mattersFSD drivers running robotaxis benefit from lower repair costs and reduced downtime because individual modules can be serviced without replacing the entire pack over a 500,000-mile service life.
  1. The Cybercab battery pack was designed to accommodate LFP cells with extra room in the enclosure and unused space beneath the modules.1
  2. The pack uses an 88S6P configuration but is modular rather than fully structural, allowing individual modules to be replaced.21
  3. Tesla engineers stated the modular design supports robotaxis engineered to remain in service for at least 500,000 miles.2

Tesla Robotaxi App Adds iPad Support and Improved Live Activities

Tesla updated the Robotaxi app with native iPad support and enhanced Live Activities for iOS devices.

Image: Not a Tesla App

Tesla rolled out Robotaxi app version 26.10.3 with official support for iPads, iPhone Duo, and Android tablets. The update provides a layout built for larger screens instead of scaling the phone version.

Live Activities received updates including per-ride colors that match the Cybercab light bar and lock screen cards. The cards now use iOS Liquid Glass theming and adapt to device colors.

The changes follow a similar redesign in the main Tesla app for big-screen devices.

Why it mattersFSD drivers tracking Robotaxi rides on tablets or lock screens gain clearer visuals and easier identification of arriving vehicles.

Tesla SpaceX Form Merger Committees After Shareholder Letter

Special committees at both companies are now exploring a merger at the request of Tesla and SpaceX shareholders.

Image: Not a Tesla App

Tesla and SpaceX formed special committees of independent directors to discuss a potential merger. The move follows a shareholder letter sent on October 26 that gathered 6,493 signatures representing more than 17.5 million shares.

SpaceX disclosed the committees during its Q3 2026 earnings call on October 20. Elon Musk said he cannot participate because he is a conflicted party and noted that no terms have been agreed and any deal requires shareholder approval at both firms.

Tesla stayed silent on the topic during its own Q3 earnings call the next day. Its 2026 annual meeting is scheduled for December 3 without a merger proposal on the proxy.
