Cybercab Surpasses Model Y in Texas Robotaxi Registrations

Tesla now has more Cybercabs than Model Ys registered in its Texas robotaxi fleet.

Image: Drive Tesla Canada

Tesla registered 81 additional Cybercabs on October 27, bringing its Texas robotaxi fleet to 1,051 vehicles according to TxDMV records. Of those, 544 are Cybercabs and 507 are Model Ys.

The shift occurred less than two months after the first seven Cybercabs were registered on August 31. Tesla has added 225 Cybercabs since early October while adding 87 Model Ys.

Registration numbers do not confirm active passenger service. Production of Cybercabs currently exceeds deployment rates.

Why it mattersFSD drivers tracking Texas operations will encounter a growing share of purpose-built Cybercabs on the road.

Tesla FSD Reaches 6 Million Miles Per Major Crash

Tesla updated its FSD (Supervised) safety report to 6,006,200 miles per major collision in North America.

Image: Tesla North

The new rolling twelve-month figure surpasses the prior mid-5-million range and stands about nine times the U.S. average of 660,164 miles. Tesla recorded 1,579 major collisions across 9,483,790,215 FSD miles, with a major collision defined as airbag or non-reversible restraint deployment.
Manual driving with active safety features reached 2,031,221 miles per event, while older vehicles without those features averaged 845,915 miles. Cumulative FSD miles since 2020 now exceed 16.7 billion.
More than 75 percent of new North American deliveries included FSD in the third quarter, expanding the dataset further.

Why it mattersUpdated miles-per-crash numbers give FSD drivers a clearer view of how the system performs relative to manual driving on their routes.
  1. FSD (Supervised) reached 6,006,200 miles per major collision in North America.1
  2. Tesla logged 9,483,790,215 FSD miles and 1,579 major collisions in the period.1

Tesla Renames FSD Computers to SI in Manuals

Tesla updated its owner's manuals to replace AI Computer references with SI Computer.

Image: Not a Tesla App

Tesla changed terminology in the Model 3, Model Y, and Cybertruck owner's manuals. The updates replace prior mentions of FSD Computer and AI Computer with SI Computer across FSD and climate control sections.

The revisions appear in software version 2026.38.3. Vehicle touchscreens still display the older AI Computer label.

The shift follows Tesla's broader rebrand of its AI accounts to Super Intelligence or SI after a September 29 executive order.

Why it mattersFSD drivers may encounter updated hardware labels on their screens after a future software update.
  1. Tesla’s official Owner’s Manual has replaced “FSD Computer” with “SI Computer” in several places for Model 3, Model Y, and Cybertruck.1
  2. The change appears in the 2026.38.3 software update and covers FSD and climate control sections.21

Moravy Says Optimus Will Plug Cybercabs Until Charging Automates

Tesla plans to deploy Optimus robots to plug in Cybercabs at existing Superchargers until wireless charging is ready.

Image: Tesla North

In a Munro Live interview published October 26, Tesla VP of Vehicle Engineering Lars Moravy said the Cybercab retains a NACS port to use current Superchargers and that Optimus will handle plugging until automated systems arrive.

Moravy noted the vehicle is already designed for future wireless charging, with Tesla holding FCC approval and planning an Austin hub with 80 wireless units. Optimus serves only as a temporary step.

The same discussion covered production, with the Cybercab line building vehicles faster than deployments require.

Why it mattersFSD drivers may see quicker robotaxi scaling once Optimus handles charging tasks at current Superchargers.
  1. Cybercab keeps a charge port to use existing Superchargers until automated charging is ready.12
  2. Lars Moravy said Optimus will plug in Cybercabs shortly as a stopgap measure.12
