Tesla Megapacks Selected for 200 MWh Colorado Project

Madison Energy Infrastructure will deploy Tesla Megapacks at three Colorado sites for CORE Electric Cooperative.

Image: Drive Tesla Canada

Tesla Megapacks have been chosen for a 50 MW, 200 MWh battery storage portfolio across three sites in Colorado. The projects mark Madison Energy Infrastructure’s largest distributed energy storage deployment and are backed by its US$50 million agreement with Tesla.

Commercial operations are scheduled to begin by September 2027. The systems will store electricity and discharge it during peak demand to help CORE manage loads and maintain service across its 5,000-square-mile territory.

The installations support Madison’s Community Infrastructure initiative and its goal of adding 1 GW of distributed capacity by 2028.

Why it mattersGrid-scale storage like this helps stabilize electricity supply and costs in regions where FSD-equipped vehicles will rely on reliable charging infrastructure.

Houston Robotaxi Geofence Expands to 254 Square Miles

Tesla enlarged its Houston service area tenfold and gave the new boundary a rocket shape.

Image: Not a Tesla App

Tesla expanded its Houston Robotaxi geofence from roughly 25 square miles to 254 square miles, a 916 percent increase. The new zone runs from northwest areas near Jersey Village southeast through downtown Houston and Bellaire, ending near Missouri City.

The boundary forms a rocket outline, announced by the official Tesla Robotaxi account with the phrase “Houston, we have liftoff.” The service uses unsupervised Model Y vehicles and remains limited to the geofence.

Waymo’s Houston area covers about 49 square miles. Tesla’s fleet in the city stands at 34 driverless Model Ys.

Why it mattersFSD drivers gain a much larger mapped area where unsupervised rides are already operating, showing how Tesla scales geofences as data accumulates.

Tesla Cybercab Line Runs Faster Than Deployments, VP Says

Tesla VP Lars Moravy said the Cybercab production line is outpacing robotaxi deployments and does not run every day.

Image: Tesla North

Tesla's Cybercab factory line builds vehicles faster than the company can deploy them, according to vehicle engineering VP Lars Moravy.

In a Munro Live tour filmed in Texas, Moravy said the line runs so fast that it is not operated daily. He described it as a race between manufacturing and deployments, with the line currently ahead.

The update came during an engineering deep dive shared by the Robotaxi account on October 26, 2026. Tesla targets a 10-second cycle time with high automation on the unboxed process.

Why it mattersFaster Cybercab output could speed up robotaxi availability for FSD drivers once deployments catch up.
“We don’t run every day because the line can run so fast, it’s currently outpacing our deployments.”Lars Moravy1
  1. Tesla’s Cybercab factory line can now build the two-seater faster than the company can put it on the road.1
  2. Moravy said the line does not run every day because it is outpacing deployments.12
  3. The line is about 78% automated, with the framing line fully automated and final assembly using 25 stations.1
@SawyerMerritt on XLars on the Cybercab production line in new interview: "We actually don’t run the line every day because the line can run so fast it’s currently outpacing our robotaxi deployments, so it’s a bit of a race right now to see who can go faster.”

Cybercab Battery Pack Supports LFP Cells

Tesla designed the Cybercab pack with extra space and a modular layout to allow future use of lower-density LFP cells.

Image: Drive Tesla Canada

The update shows the Cybercab battery enclosure includes unused space beneath the modules and room for additional cells. This intentional design lets Tesla switch to LFP chemistry without a full pack redesign as production scales.

The vehicle currently uses 4680 cells in an 88S6P configuration. Tesla has moved to a modular battery architecture instead of a fully structural pack, allowing individual modules to be serviced or replaced.

Engineers cited manufacturing costs and the need for 500,000-mile robotaxi service life as reasons for the change.

Why it mattersFSD drivers running robotaxis benefit from lower long-term repair costs and sustained uptime over 500,000 miles.
  1. The Cybercab battery pack was designed to accommodate LFP cells with extra space for lower energy density chemistries.1
  2. Current pack uses 88S6P configuration with 4680 cells but includes room for future LFP.1
  3. Cybercab adopts modular design so individual battery sections can be replaced without discarding the entire pack.2
  4. Modular approach supports 500,000-mile robotaxi service life by reducing repair costs.2

Robotaxi App Adds iPad Support and Live Activities

Tesla rolled out official iPad and tablet support plus improved Live Activities in Robotaxi app version 26.10.3.

Image: Not a Tesla App

The update provides a version built for larger screens rather than a scaled-up phone app. Booking and tracking rides now fit tablet layouts including the iPhone Duo inner screen.

Live Activities received color-coded ride tracking and Liquid Glass interface support on iOS. The lock screen card matches device theme colors and shows the Cybercab's colored light bar.

The changes follow a similar big-screen redesign in the main Tesla app.

Why it mattersFSD drivers can now book and monitor Robotaxi rides more comfortably on tablets with clearer arrival tracking.
“the card soaks in the theme colors on your device, so it always feels at home.”Wayne Sun1
  1. Robotaxi app version 26.10.3 added support for iPad, iPhone Duo, Android tablets and foldables.1
  2. Live Activities now assign each ride a color that matches the Cybercab light bar and lock screen card.1
  3. The app supports iOS Liquid Glass and adopts device theme colors on the Live Activity card.1

Tesla SpaceX Form Merger Committees

Tesla and SpaceX formed special committees of independent directors to explore a merger at shareholder request.

Image: Not a Tesla App

The committees were created after shareholders urged action. A letter supporting faster progress collected 6,493 signatures representing more than 17.5 million Tesla shares and was scheduled for delivery on October 26.

Elon Musk stated he cannot participate due to conflicts and noted any deal requires shareholder approval at both firms. At Tesla this means support from 50 percent of outstanding shares, a threshold he described as quite high.

No terms have been agreed and the next step would be formal filings naming committee members or advisors.

Why it mattersA completed merger could change how Tesla allocates resources between vehicle production and autonomy software used by FSD drivers.
“he believes a merger would be a good idea, but cautioned against treating it as a certainty.”Elon Musk1
  1. Tesla and SpaceX formed special committees of independent directors to discuss a merger.1
  2. A shareholder letter urging faster action gathered 6,493 signatures for more than 17.5 million shares.1

Tesla Updates Canada Model 3 RWD Specs Hinting at US-Built Return

Tesla Canada changed Model 3 Premium RWD range and acceleration figures on its site to match the US-built version.

Image: Electrek

Tesla Canada updated the Model 3 Premium Rear-Wheel Drive specifications on its website. The listed range rose to 584 km with 0-100 km/h in 5.2 seconds and a curb weight of 1,745 kg.

Those figures match the Fremont-built Long Range RWD previously sold in Canada and the current US Premium RWD. The prior Shanghai-built version listed 463 km and 6.2 seconds.

Orders for the Premium RWD remain paused. Tesla states they will resume if the government issues more quota, expected March 2027. US-built vehicles face 25 percent counter-tariffs.

Why it mattersCanadian FSD drivers may gain access to a long-range Model 3 sooner if Tesla brings in US-built units before the 2027 quota reset.
  1. Tesla Canada updated Model 3 Premium RWD specs to 584 km range and 5.2-second 0-100 km/h time.12
  2. The updated specs match the US-built Model 3 Premium RWD rated at 363 miles EPA.12
  3. Premium RWD orders are paused until March 2027 unless more import quota is issued.12
