Tesla Launches US-Only FSD Referral Program Replacing Vehicle Referrals

Tesla ended its US vehicle referral rewards and introduced a new FSD subscription referral program available only in the United States.

Tesla has ended its vehicle referral rewards program in the United States and replaced it with a Full Self-Driving referral program. Owners can now share a referral link that gives eligible friends one free month of FSD. If the friend subscribes during the trial, the referrer receives one free month of FSD or $99 in credits.

The program is US-only. Canada retains its vehicle referral program. Rewards are capped at 12 per calendar year. Recipients must not have subscribed to FSD in the prior 12 months.

Pending vehicle referrals for undelivered cars were restored after initially disappearing from the app.

Tesla extended Robotaxi hours to 2 AM and added rider features including Calm Mode and trip sharing.

Tesla has extended Robotaxi operating hours to 6 AM through 2 AM daily, a 20-hour window. The change follows prior extensions from 11 PM to midnight on October 17 and then to 1 AM the following week.

New features include a rear-view camera feed during rides, the ability to share trip details with a friend, a redesigned Live Activity experience, and Calm Mode that dims the screen while setting cabin lighting to a relaxing state. Grok is now available on Model Y Robotaxis.

Accessibility updates add an improved vehicle-locating arrow in the app, haptic feedback to help riders find their vehicle, and music control via Screen Reader.

Tesla Cybercab Begins Interstate Rides in Austin

Tesla has begun carrying passengers on Austin interstates with its Cybercab fleet.

Tesla started interstate Cybercab rides in Austin, shown in an 11-second video posted by rider Jesse Richards. The clip shows the vehicle traveling at 55 mph in rain.

This marks the first reported interstate use of a Cybercab, though Model Y robotaxis have used highways before. Tesla added 29 more Cybercabs to reach 1,080 registered vehicles in its Texas fleet.

Cybercabs now outnumber Model Ys in the fleet. Production does not run daily as output exceeds deployment pace.

Tesla owners report that update 2026.38.5.1 interferes with third-party V2L devices connected via the CCS port. These adapters previously allowed power draw by mimicking a DC charging session, but now trigger faults and shut down after minutes of use.

Italy has voiced support for swift EU approval of Tesla Assisted Driving following a discussion between Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini and Tesla CEO Elon Musk on October 29, 2026. Salvini noted Italy's interest in the technology for innovation and road safety.

Tesla's system received its first EU approval from the Netherlands on April 10, 2026. Ten member states representing 14.3% of the EU population have since recognized it nationally.

Italy's population of about 59 million could help Tesla reach the qualified majority needed for bloc-wide approval, which requires 15 states representing 65% of the population. A vote is expected in December at the earliest.

Tesla Model Y Earns Record-Low Green NCAP Lifecycle Emissions Rating

The Berlin-built Model Y RWD posted the lowest lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions Green NCAP has recorded.

Tesla Model Y Rear-Wheel Drive earned a five-star Green NCAP rating and 93 percent overall score. The Berlin-built single-motor version achieved a perfect 10/10 in greenhouse gas emissions.

Green NCAP calculated the Model Y lifecycle carbon footprint at 95 grams of CO2 equivalent per kilometre. Tesla supplied detailed vehicle and battery manufacturing data that the organization verified.

The SUV scored 8.9/10 for energy efficiency and 9.0/10 for clean air. It consumed 14.7 kWh per 100 km in warm conditions during testing.

Houston Police Union Backs Expanded Tesla Robotaxi

The Houston Police Officers’ Union endorsed Tesla’s larger Houston Robotaxi map one day after the geofence grew.

The union posted on X on October 27 that Tesla’s expanded Cybercab and Robotaxi service gives riders more options to get home safely after a night out. The message came a day after Tesla enlarged the Houston geofence from a small northwest patch near Cypress to a Starship-shaped zone reaching downtown, Bellaire, and Pasadena.

Houston has offered unsupervised Robotaxi rides since April. The union did not claim any formal partnership with Tesla and simply presented the service as one tool against impaired driving. Tesla plans to extend Robotaxi hours to 2 AM soon and 24/7 by year end.
